The original site was started in February of 1996 hosted on a university student account and was moved to the bikepics.com domain in 1997. The site was started as a hobby and has been updated in my spare time between my various full time jobs and IT & programming contracts. I have started scaling back other jobs and will be only working on Bikepics by the end of 2006. Every element of this site has been done in house by my self except for some of the artwork.
The site is now hosted on 5 servers in a dedicated rack at EV1 Servers in Houston Texas on a 100Mbit link. The servers run Windows 2003 Server with 1 running MS SQL. I maintain and update the site from my home which is located in the city of Brisbane in Australia.
I have had several bikes and am currently ride 2004 Yamaha R6 and have recently got a 2001 Honda CR 125. I am hoping to expand my bike collection and get a Yamaha Warrior and a Vesper scooter of some sort with in 12 months. I also drive a 2004 Subaru WRX impreza. I uploaded videos but they are not online - Why?
All videos that have been uploaded since February are stored on the server and are slowly being processed and put online. Over the remaining period of the year the whole BikeMovies site will be revamped and videos uploaded will be put online.
Can I contact another member?
This is a very sought after feature so its high on the to-do list. At the moment most members block their email due to huge amounts of unwanted spam.
Can I change my username or password?
Not at the moment but soon. These problems are high on my list of issues to fix and once the site layout has been change I will get to work on this
Can I advertise on BikePics?
If you wish to advertise on bikepics then you need to contact Burst Media. BikePics also uses Google AdSense for any unused Burst Inventory but for the best results you should use Burst as you will be able to get first pick of the traffic.
How come there are no girl photos?
The decision has been made to keep BikePics a G rated site. This means that no photos of Girls (or Guys) wearing revealing clothing or naked / semi naked are allowing on the site. If you find a photo that you feel is not appropriate then please use the form below to notify the admin.
How come some of my photos or my whole bike was deleted?
There is a Terms of use agreement when you upload photos that is strictly enforced. If you choose to upload non bike photos then you can expect them to be deleted. I am happy to leave the site open for immediate viewing of uploaded photos and allow forum users to link to images on BikePics but the trade off is that I will delete inappropriate photos with in 12 hrs of them being submitted.
How come my model name has not been approved?
Due to so many people abusing this feature there are now around 1500 names waiting to be approved and it takes a lot of time to check each name to make sure its a legitimate bike and not just a different name of an existing bike. Most bikes which have 3 or more members have now been approved and its hoped any bike with 2 or more members will soon be approved.
How come you don't respond to emails?
The more time I spend answering emails the less time I can spend managing other parts of the site or working on the new site. Many people don't ask questions in English or ask bike related questions which I can not answer as I have no mechanical knowledge at all
