1991 BMW R 80 GS
Photos: 2
Purchased: Jan 1991
Info: Originally a R80 GS, I converted it into a R100GS using the Siebenrock 1000cc kit. The result is around 30% more torque and, surprisingly, around 1 liter less fuel consumption per 100km. The engine runs much smoother with less vibrations than the original BMW 1000 engine. Siebenrock did a tremendously good job in designing this kit, and it is affordable.

2004 Honda XR 200
Photos: 3
Purchased: Jan 2004
Info: After returning to the Philippines I wanted to buy a big bike but they are all imported and you have to import every single spare part. So I ended up buying the biggest locally assembled bike. Workmanship is a bit poor and with 16.5 hp it definitely is below it´s potential and a bit depressing if you are used to 1000 cc. I am now looking for ways to get some more power out of the engine. Any ideas

1951 BMW R 25/2

Info: I bought this bike for 400 Deutschmarks from a farmer, completely restored it and fitted a Steib 200 side car. I used it on a day to day basis for almost 4 years and it never let me down. Good old German Engineering.

1997 Vespa P 200
Photos: 1
Purchased: Jan 1998
Sold: Jul 2001
Info: I drove around Makassar, South Sulawesi in Indonesia, for more than 3 years on this locally manufactured scooter. It had the classic Vespa design but a terrible modern looking rectangular headlight. Powerful and reliable. And cheap. Cost me new around 1000 US$

1981 Honda XL 185

Purchased: Feb 1994
Sold: Jul 1997
Info: My first bike in the Philippines, bought second hand from a local. It was newly painted but when the paint fell off it became obvious that it was completely screwed up. I took it apart, re-built the engine, re-painted it, re-wired the electical system and then it served me well for 3 years. Still without kids we did lots of nice trips on provincial dirt roads in Laguna and Mindoro.

1970 Moto Guzzi V7

Info: The predecessor of the California. This bike was a monster. You could still feel that the engine was originally developed for other purposes. I loved it but needed money since I was a poor university student. Should have never sold it.
