Information: I purchased this bike while in Okinawa, Japan in 1996 and rode it almost every day until 1999. It is an original Japanese bike, had a Japanese title and factory color was the purple/blue not seen in the States. In 2001, I finally got it registered as a "Gray Market" vehicle since this bike never went through Customs inspections. Which means I went through an awful lot of forms and documentation to get it legally registered with a US title since I imported it myself... This past summer (2003), I completed dissasembled the bike and did the following work: - crack in frame cut out and repaired/rewelded - frame sandblasted and powdercoated gray - rims sandblasted and powdercoated silver-white - dent removed from tank and new acrylic liner coating - tank, side panels, and fenders painted black - new Pirelli Dragon Evo tires (120 on front, 180 on back) - engine wire brushed and polished (I wore out three wire wheels and one electric drill!) - new bearings and seals front and rear - new sprocket-to-rear hub bushing - new speedometer gear set in front hub - rebuilt front mastercylinder - cleaned both front and the rear calipers - recovered the seat - new top covers on all four carbs - entirely rebuilt everything within the carbs (all new parts including the $97 (US) diaphrams in each) - new cables and tubing and filters - new Kerker 4-into-1 black headpipe and aluminum can exhaust (searched for over two weeks everyday to locate a system in the US - bikebandit.com had a couple) - new engine stickers - cleaned everything by hand I still want to rebuild the front forks and get new rear shocks and do a couple of other little things like new gauges and such. But, for the moment I am pretty happy with it.
