Information: This is my RS50 in September 2000. It was my first road bike after being off road riding since I was 4, starting off on an Italjet 50, then playing on my cousins Malagutti Grizzly 50, then got an ex-factory Kawasaki GB Racing KX80! That was one fast little machine, it could hold its own against 125´s easily. Got the RS50 in March 2000 on a new (at the time) W reg. plate. I would have had it sooner but the shop refused to let me have it as it was the new colours so was only being released with the new license plates, so I picked it up as soon as I could. I was only 16 at the time and used it for going to school on, I loved every moment I spent on that bike, except for the first week when it was still restricted and would only pull 35mph down hill, 25mph on a flat and as low as 10mph uphill... depressingly slow! Once that was sorted and it was de-restricted it was a flyer (well for a 50cc anyways). It would do a steady 60-65mph on a flat but my all time top speed was 82mph hehehe!!! *Bullshit* I hear you shout but it did it, it took along time to get there and also a helping hand lol in the name of an Aprilia RS125 letting you slipstream it. The 2 stroke scream got so high pitched that it went quieter, the revs where off the clock and it melted my spark plug though! Kept it for 18 months and it still looked immaculate the day it got sold. I regret selling it as it was such a fun bike to ride but I needed to move on and I now have a Y reg. 2001 Cagiva Mito Evo2 which I got in July 2001. I still had the RS at the time but it had to go. I did no mods to the engine, only to its looks, which where not drastic changes either. Sprayed the rear wheel hugger, the air intake and the other dash surround bit jet black as they go grey being untreated plastics. Was going to get an Arrow full race exhaust system but I dont think it was worth it, so I put a carbon sticker on it hehe but it looked like the real thing. Painted the tyre writing white as most people do with the RS50. Also lowered the front end by pushing the forks through the top yolk, made it look so much better as it had a meaner stance and it hid those ´mcdonald straw´ forks. Lowered it by 17mm each side, would have done it more but under heavy braking it would have hit the front mudguard. (Wasn´t done though on the pic shown)
