Information: Hi my names Sean Gallagher im 17 and this is my 96 cr 125. This is my second dirtbike my first was a 89 model yz 80. This bike has undergone a complete transformation since I bought it from a bike shop in redclif. I payed $2000 for the bike about 2 years ago, since then i have put a new seat cover on as the old one was ripped fadded and jus well looked like shit, then came a set of fork covers, new front and rear fenders, new side number plates and a set of pro taper seven eighths handle bars. I rode the bike like this for sum time then decided it was time for a ground up rebuild. I stripped the bike back to bare frame and sent the frame off to be sand blasted. While the frame was away I disassembled and cleaned every part of the bike in petrol by hand with a tooth brush and sanded back and hand polished the swing arm with wet dry sand paper. After the frame came back from being sand blasted there were a few rust holes in the frame so the frame was sent of to be welded and reinforced at a local welder. When the frame got back from the welder it went straight back to the sand blasters to be powder coated gloss black. While this was happening I did a complete engine rebuild including piston rings top and bottom end bearings, kick starter and kick starter idle gear, new clutch plates (steel and fibre) and a new 180 main jet for the carby. I gave the cylinder to a mate who is an engine reconditioner to be ported polished and honed. While the cylinder was away I resurfaced the cylinder head by hand on a flat glass window payne using various grits of wet dry sand paper taking of in total about 30 thou then a complete gasket kit was purchased so the engine was ready to go back together when the cylinder came back. With the engine back together and my frame still at the powder coaters I decided to install all new steering stem, swing arm, and swing arm linkage bearings and seals aswell as rear wheel bearings. While this was being done the bike got a new rear excell rim, stainless spokes, new rim lock, tube and tyre. The bike also got all new brake pads and fork seals. I completely disassembled the rear shock to clean it and painted the spring cherry red while it was appart. The bike also scored a new set of factory effex graphics aswell as some pro taper grips and oversized stainless steel yz400 footpegs and some cables and levers. The whole electricle system was pulled apart and hand cleaned with contact cleaner then reassembled. Now that everything was complete it was time to put it all back together. When the bike was all complete a brand new set of genuine honda radiators were purchased as the others were damaged in a crash. The build took roughly 4 months and was done in my garage with fairly primative super cheap tools plus a couple of tools such as a bearing seater that I had to make my self on a lathe at tafe but it is all finaly complete and looks great rides better and beats nearly any new model 125 on the market. The total price of the rebuild came to $3467.18c then u can add the $2000 cost of the bike haha anyhow the moneys wat matters when you get so much sattisfaction out of riding a bike you built yourself. Besides dad payed for it all HAHA thanx.
