Information: 1978 wast the first year that Yamaha made the step up to a four cylinder. The stock bike was the fastest production bike made for two years, until Suzuki became king in this area two years later. It was nicknamed the XS11 because not only was it an 1100, but it was the first stock bike to break into the 11 sec. quarter mile. My bike is outfitted with the factory touring package... Vetter fairing, hard saddle bags, and the custom touring seat. Also, someone has added a small Honda trunk with matching pads on the box and lid; a 4 into one pipe; homemade trailer hitch; highway pegs; and Honda shocks on the rear. I´ve mounted a bicycle bottle holder on the fairing; have new Progressive fork springs to put in; a fork brace; swapping front fender for an ´81 Gold Wing fender with the front guard/´bumper´; and have switched the handle bars to Kawasaki LTD bars to make ´walking´ the bike easier (As recommended on a website dedicated to XS11´S). Because of the bar change, I need longer brake lines, so I´m going to go with custom braided lines to help improve performance. At the same time, I´ll change the rear lines. It currently has an am/fm/cassette radio with four speakers mounted in the fairing. Future plans also include a little cosmetic graphics.
