Dad taught me to ride when I was about five. I´ve owned a lot of rides since then, but my favorite has to be my 49 state (no smog equipment, so it´s a little lighter than a normal stock FZR) 93 FZR600, which is pictured here. I swapped out the rear sprocket and went down a couple of teeth for higher top-end on those long hauls. Highway 1 along the California coast is simply AMAZING. I raced a 911 on the freeway one night and had it up to about 160 or so. That was pretty much the ONLY time I´ve had it that fast. I also replaced the stock mirrors with ´98 Suzuki Katana mirrors. The stock Yamaha mirrors leave a lot to be desired because of their small size, ´cause I was really tired of seeing only my elbows in the rear-views. Most guys around here just take ´em off and run illegal, but I wanted to do something a little different. I did a bit of drilling through the windscreen and fairing to get all the bolts in, but it was well worth it. The mirrors look great and I can SEE in them. As far as the windscreen, I removed it and spray painted the inside of it a gloss black. I think it carried over the dark colour of the nose fairing fairly well, and gives it a much cleaner line. And yes, those are really 40,000 miles on it. Enjoy the photos! |
