Member Info: Riding a ´99 Triumph Sprint ST and a ´97 Suzuki DR650SE. Both purchased new before early retirement and consequent income shrinking. Sprint ST is fitted with optional can, software and pillion seat cover. Enthusiastically ridden, not inconsiderately though. One visit to the Isle of Man TT Races (2002). Shod with Michelin Pilot Road after several BT57 and BT020 (one rear BT56 which was bald to thread after 2800K) which last about 6000K. DR 650 is fitted with AFAM bar and 25mm spacer for higher location (rider is 1M88 or 6ft2plus). 14-teeth sprocket instead of 15 (1st gear is high for off-road use), K&N filter, lightweight blinkers and mirrors (they get regularly broken). DR has seen three off-road raids in Tunisia these last 3 years. For street use, a low screen is used to relieve wind pressure on chest. Pirelli MT21 are remarkable compromise for road and sand/gravel/stone, Czech MITAS Slightly better in mud and colder weather but feeling like chewing-gum on the road. Rear doughnut lifespan anything between 3000K and 6000K. For road use and occasional dry pathes and trails, Metzeler Tourance allow sport bike leaning angles. Life expectancy should be coherent with road use.
