Information: Well I''ve been wanting an 80''s bike to rat/customise for rallies etc for a while now. Had kinda got disheartened, everyone on ebay seemed to want project bikes so anything running was fetching more than £200 (my budget).
While in Tesco''s today buying a nice leg of pork, an ad caught my eye - CB250RS, W reg, no tax or test but ''good runner'' - £120!!
Rang straight away, 3 miles along the ring road from me. Got a lift off my mate, bike was better than I expected.
Genuine guy, had owned it the last 20 years to commute with, got a GS500 last year so the mot just ran out on the CB as it sat in his garage. (He also had a Cagiva 650, a big Guzzi and some old Triumph traily thing!!! Cool guy.)
Anyway, took it off his hands for £110, along with Haynes ''Book of Lies'', spare crankshaft and generator.
Was a hoot to ride home, love the kickstart and I can tiptoe both sides (which is a very good point for me!) It has a motad exhaust system, the rack and top box. Needs a front brake lever, poss a new battery, rev counter fixing, another mirror, chain cleaning/adjusting and maybe a brake overhaul later on. Tyres are good.
Now I''m torn whether to attack it with matt black spray, Hammerite and camo net - it''s just too nice for that!!!!
Will get it MOT''d within the next 4-6 weeks and see how I feel.
Meanwhile, am LOVING being in the multiple bike club!!!
