I always had CR500s from 1990 to 2001. This is a beauty 1985 I just picked up. I replaced the boots and Pro Link stickers. I reskinned just the right number plate because of the kick start boot marks, but it was even pretty nice. The bike never had numbers on it. All 3 number plates still have the original yellow enamel. The seat has a few little buger holes that were dabbed with a dot of black sealant from years back. Forks were nice with not a leak. That was a benefit of the old style forks with the boots. Rear shock is plush. I do have new Honda wing emblems identical but i'm reluctant to peel the original off as there pretty good. Motor is very quiet. It was a one owner bike until 2009, then a few months back I bought it from a guy in AZ who's back couldn't handle the kick starting. Still has the stock bars, and all plastic. The pipe had a panel patch at some point but was done nice. I haven't yet really romped on it since I did the semi resto. Oh, the water pump was perfect. The owner always drained the fluids when garaged. Sounds like a pain, but he was a smart man early on. The rear wheel has some sand blast for sure. The only part not OEM is the Answer "SA" spark arrestor that looks like hot tub time machine era, but pretty nice (i repacked it). Anyway, thanks for reading the post. Joe.
